End of the Road
September 5th, 2010 | by brooksbusch |The Indianapolis Colts have made their final cuts for the 53 man roster, and very few surprises came from the team’s announcment. Those that were cut included, DE-Ervin Baldwin, QB-Tom Brandstater, DE-John Chick, TE-Colin Cloherty, DT-Marlon Favorite, DB-Ray Fisher, WR-Sam Giguere, DB-Danny Gorrer, DB-Ashton Hall, WR-Brandon James, RB-Javarris James, DB-Terrail Lambert, OT-Chris Marinelli, C-Adrian Martinez, DB-Mike Newton, RB-Allen Patrick, DB-Glenn Sharpe, DB-Terrell Skinner, WR-Taj Smith, OT-Adam Terry, LB-Vuna Tuihalamaka, WR-Blair White and OT-James Williams. However, to go along with the cuts, the Colts were able to aqcuire Washington defensive back, Justin Tyron, for an undisclosed draft pick.
None of the cuts made by the Colts come as much of a surprise, but several of the players released could have gone either way. Maybe the most notable cut was that of seventh round draft pick, Ray Fisher. The Colts selected Fisher in the 2010 draft with the hope that the former Hoosier would be able to cement himself as the team’s return specialist. Similar to Fisher, Brandon James was brought in to compete for the return position. Neither was able to impress the coaching staff, and as a result both are now looking for new jobs.
The Colts did not make many waves with their recent cuts, nor did most expect there to be. Once again the Colts had a fairly good idea of what to expect coming into the season, and they followed through with their plan.
