Who Will Fall First?

December 1st, 2009 | by brooksbusch |

The New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts both sit atop their respective conferences with unblemished records. The Saints have managed to put up 24 plus points in every single game this season, and after their big win over the Patriots in front of the entire nation, it looks like the Saints are finally getting the respect they deserve. The Colts have managed to squeak out victories in several close games this season, but it seems like they will find ways to win regardless of the situation. Each team has five games remaining this season, and on paper it looks very possible that we may have two teams go undefeated heading into the playoffs.

The remaining opponents for the Colts are the Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills. Of the five teams left for the Colts three look to be making a strong push towards a playoff berth. The Titans, Broncos, and Jaguars will give the Colts all they’ve got, and will not simply roll over for the AFC South champs.

The Saints have a similar schedule to the Colts in terms of difficulty and must face the Washington Redskins, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Tamba Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers. The Falcons and Cowboys are in the thick of the playoff hunt and will prove to be tough adversaries for this undefeated squad.

Neither of these teams can look ahead to the next week and overlook an opponent, and with two great leaders behind center I do not expect that problem to arise. However, as a man who loves football, I can only hope that these two teams end up in the Super Bowl, both undefeated, so that we may witness the greatest Super Bowl in the history of the NFL.
